SECURITY REGULATIONS

Stazioni Marittime Spa is required to respect and enforce:
  • the rules of SOLAS - chapter XI-2
  • Parts A and B of the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS)
  • the directives contained in the National Maritime Security Programme against intentional unlawful acts, edition 26 April 2007
  • EC regulation 725/2004 the provisions contained in Italian Legislative Decree 203 of 6 November 2007
  • Italian Decree-Law 154 of 18/09/2009 - assignment of subsidiary security services
    the content of the Port Facility Security plan (PSFP) approved by the Port Authority of Genoa

ACCESS TO THE AREAS

Access to the areas granted in concession to Stazioni Marittime Spa is permitted only:
  • to holders of boarding tickets for cruise ships or ferries
  • to persons authorised by Stazioni Marittime Spa (permanent or temporary pass), with an access permit from the Genoa Port Authority.

    Anyone entering the areas must submit to checks by the staff in charge. If requested to do so, a valid identity document must be presented in addition to the ticket or identification card (Italian Decree-Law 154 of 15/09/2009).
    Access to and/or exit from the Terminal is guaranteed, every day of the year, through several dedicated Operating Access Points (Varchi Operativi, hereinafter VO):
  • VO 1 - Ponte Caracciolo entrance/exit - extra EC area - is used both for entry and exit by pedestrians and vehicles. Manned by security personnel and open only in case of operational needs
  • VO 2 - Ponte Caracciolo exit - extra EC area - is opened and manned by security personnel only if required
  • VO 4 - Ponte Assereto - entrance reserved for goods and service/emergency vehicles. Guarded by security personnel at scheduled times depending on ship operations
  • VO 5, 6, 7 - check-in tunnel entrances. Security personnel carry out ISPS checks
    as per PFSP while staff employed by Stazioni Marittime spa (or staff employed by external companies) do the check-in procedures
  • VO 8 - Ponte Colombo and Assereto exit - manned 24 hours a day by security personnel
  • VO 9 - entrance to Ponte Colombo and Ponte Doria - reserved for goods and service/emergency vehicles. Guarded by security personnel at scheduled times depending on ship operations
  • VO 10 - exit gate to Ponte Colombo and Ponte Andrea Doria manned by security personnel and open only in case of operational needs. During the summer, the timetable is modified and extended for greater intensity of maritime traffic
  • VO 11, 12, 13, 15 entrances/exits between Ponte Andrea Doria Levante and Ponte Andrea Doria Ponente, used for Customs and Police purposes during extra EC traffic.
  • VO 14 - entrance at the head of the Ponte Andrea Doria Ponente - open only if required and manned by security personnel
  • VO 14 p - pedestrian entrance or exit to the upper Andrea Doria square, open only if required and manned by security personnel
  • VO 14 b - connection gate between east/west Doria, manned by security personnel in case of operational needs
  • VO 16, 17 - entrances/access points to the Ponte Andrea Doria Levante. Open and manned by security personnel only in case of operational needs
  • VO 18 - entrance at the head of the Ponte Andrea Doria Levante - open and manned by security personnel only in case of operational needs
  • VO 19 - entrance to the Ponte dei Mille - opened and manned by security personnel only when ships are operating on the Ponte dei Mille
  • VO 21 - Ponte dei Mille exit on the east side - opened and manned by security personnel, only in case of operational needs for ships moored at Ponte dei Mille
    CZ access points: these are the entrances/exits of the Calata Zingari rest area between Ponte Andrea Doria and Ponte dei Mille.

    In addition to the aforementioned gates, there are three footbridges connecting the promenade of the Ferry Terminal to, respectively, Ponte Colombo, Ponte Assereto and Cala Chiappella.
    The three walkways are connected to the lower floor by stairs and a lift.
    The footbridges are open and manned by security with variable schedules.
    In all cases, for both access points and footbridges, timetables may be extended according to the operation of the ships.

ACCESS OF AUTHORISED PERSONNEL

The Security staff manning the operational gates may grant access to the Terminal to authorised personnel presenting, together with a valid identity document, entry permits recognised by Stazioni Marittime Spa. In particular, access will also be granted to:
  • crew members in possession of ship badges
  • employees of shipping companies or shipping agencies with badges and/or prior authorisation from Stazioni Marittime Spa
  • employees of Stazioni Marittime Spa
    the staff of the Harbour Master's Office, State Police, Italian Finance Police, Customs, Carabinieri, Army and all Police Forces
  • employees of the Port Authority, Maritime Health, ASL, UOPSAL
    the staff of the Fire Department and Santa Barbara
  • suppliers who have received authorisation to access, also by email, forwarded by Stazioni Marittime Spa to security
  • company partners, previously authorised, also by email
    in general, those who send a reasoned request for entry through Shipping Companies or Maritime Agencies
  • representatives of Institutes of any religion and "Stella Maris" staff

ACCESS OF TAXI DRIVERS

Taxis, although performing a public service, may only enter the operational areas in the following cases:
with crew members on board with suitable documents issued by the ship and/or Shipping Agency
without persons on board for service to passengers disembarking from ferries on call, or for parking in reserved spaces 
with persons on board authorised by Stazioni Marittime Spa with particular regard to Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PMR, Italian abbreviation). Passengers in possession of a ticket and proof of documentation must have previously requested authorisation from Stazioni Marittime. Access will be guaranteed from the check-in tunnel gates, where security checks and the check-in of the ticket will be carried out. 
For security reasons, passengers will be allowed to enter two hours before the ship's departure time in order to guarantee direct boarding, without parking in the operational areas.
Taxis cannot enter with passengers destined for boarding the ferries on board. Passengers boarding the ferry will be accompanied to the ticket office of the ferry terminal.

Taxis are not allowed to enter the operational areas designated for cruise traffic. There are parking areas near the terminals for the disembarkation of cruise passengers.

VIDEOSURVEILLANCE

The areas granted in concession to Stazioni Marittime s.p.a. are controlled by a video surveillance system with CCTV cameras, which is always active. The system was created and operates in compliance with the rules on privacy and the protection of people's freedom (Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003).

PROHIBITED ITEMS

In addition to the provisions of current criminal law on weapons, it is forbidden to bring into the security area any type of knife or sharp blade, bows, crossbows, sport fishing rifles, hatchets, scissors, awls, martial arts equipment, as well as any other instrument that can be used as an improper weapon. 
The transport of fishing guns and sporting equipment in general is allowed inside dedicated bags/cases, stowed in the cargo compartment of vehicles boarding ferries.
